Exclusiv: prima tranzactie cu gaze naturale la Bursa Romana de MarfuriExclusive: First Gas Deal on the Romanian Commodities Exchange
Vanzator Plus Energy Point SRL, companie intrata pe piata romaneasca in septembrie 2013 .
The first batch of imported gas has been sold on the Romanian Commodities Exchange (BRM).
The seller was Vanzator Plus Energy Point SRL, a company that entered the Romanian market in September 2013. Even if it’s a new trader, we’re talking about a medium size player on the Romanian gas market, one that actively uses market opportunities, including that of trading on the Exchange. A new, modern and transparent approach has led to BRM’s unfreezing, and it also brought a lower market price – only of imported gas, so far.
Three trading sessions were held these last days. 10,000 MWh were offered for sale, in batches of minimum 1000 MWh. The price oscillated between 36.95 USD/MWh and 37.15 USD/MWh. One 1000 MWh batch was sold at 37 USD/MWh. It is the first time we can talk about a benchmark price of imported gas in Romania.
The price of import gas might see corrections if more players would act on BRM. We think that the trading method is especially convenient for buyers, and in our opinion they should try this trading instrument, for themselves and for the whole Romanian gas market, which would lead to lower prices of imported gas.
Within this context, we might mention that the Industry and Services Committee of the Chamber of Deputies has a draft law stipulating that all natural gas transactions must proceed through the two platforms licensed by the Romanian Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE), namely the Romanian Gas and Electricity Market Operator (OPCOM) and BRM. We will soon add new details on this theme.
